The process of moving a piano – full service
Because pianos have a lot of sensitive parts that can be easily damaged, the first part of our service includes packing. That covers securing the keyboard lid, and the top board with tape, wrapping the paddles in bubble wrap and the entire instrument in moving blankets or other wrapping material to prevent any scratches or damages. In case you’re moving a baby grand, or a grand piano, we’ll disassemble the legs, so they don’t brake in transit, and re-assemble them after.
Both loading and unloading are included in the service, and we’ll provide the top-of-the-line truck for transport. At the new location, we’ll place the instrument, per your instruction, and unpack it. We also can place your piano in a permanent or a temporary storage.

FAQ
What others wanted to know about piano moves
Should I retune my piano right after the move?
Moving does cause some changes to the sound in the instrument, due to the sensitivity of the mechanisms inside. Therefore, retuning will be necessary in most cases. However, experts recommend waiting at least 3 weeks before re-tuning it, so the instrument will have enough time to “settle.”
Does your company provide insurance for my instrument during the move?
Yes, we’re fully insured, so your instrument will be fully covered in case something happens while moving.
Do you charge extra to move piano down or up the stairs?
We don’t. Whether we have to disassemble the legs on the grand piano or move your piano to or from an apartment on higher floors of the building, it’s included in our full service. The factors that might impact the price for your piano move are total moving time, the number of movers hired, and the distance.
Do you offer a same-day piano moving service?
Yes, we offer last-minute heavy-item moves. That includes same-day relocations of all types of heavy items, including pianos, appliances, furniture, and safes.
How many movers do I need to move a piano across state?
This depends on the complexity of the extraction, and the overall moving process. However, most of the time 3 or 4 people are needed to do it efficiently and safely. While 2 movers do most of the heavy lifting, others ensure that they’re guided safely, especially if there are stairs.
